For those of us with birthdays occurring in the midst of this strange time – we may find our big day is not quite what we had planned. That trip to the pub with your mates or meal at your favourite restaurant might be cancelled as we all hunker down at home instead. The Pip & Nut team have already had two birthdays in the first week of social distancing and it has set us on a mission – to put together The Ultimate Guide to Hibernation Birthdays. We hope this is helpful and we’d love to hear your ideas. Please share your photos from your hibernation birthdays and tag us on social @pipandnut so we can see what you got up to!

  1. Nominate your friend for a birthday package via squirrel mail

Tag someone who’s birthday is in the next 2 months on our Instagram post or on Instagram stories (you can enter multiple times for multiple friends/ yourself). We will pick 5 winners to send a birthday bundle of treats including a selection of our nut butter and nut butter cups to help you or your friend celebrate. If you're not a lucky winner this time- don't fret, take your pick from our range of gifts and bundles on our webshop (the t-shirts and totes make the perfect gift for any nut butter lover).

  1. Bake an awesome peanut butter birthday cake

It’s the perfect time to dust off that apron and train up for the Bake Off. Bake yourself or your flatmate/ family the ultimate peanut butter cake. Check out the full recipe and watch the video of Liam Charles and our founder Pip creating the ‘Salted Nutter’, an indulgent creation from his cookbook Cheeky treats, complete with PLENTY of peanut butter – yum!

  1. Go nuts decorating your Nest

Embrace your creative side and bring the party vibes to your home. Crafts can be therapeutic and changing up your space will make the day feel special. For beginner crafters why not try a simple paper chain for a throwback feel. Eco squirrels - get resourceful and cut strips of paper from old magazines. If you fancy more of a challenge check out the spruce crafts for some inspo – we love the balloon arch!

  1. Surprise video party

Invite your friend to a one on one video call at a set time. Then send round the link via email or a secret Whatsapp group to a big group of their friends and family. Tell everyone to be waiting and ready 5 minutes before the birthday squirrel joins the call. When they join you can burst in to song! Why not try a few virtual party games, a pub quiz or karaoke? This is tried and tested by the Pip & Nut team. We surprised sales squirrel Dan with a (very out of tune) rendition of happy birthday on Zoom last week. If they don’t like surprises why not try a virtual fancy dress party and all go for the same theme?

Wishing all those spring birthday squirrels a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the team at Pip & Nut!
