As part of a healthy balanced diet our bars are suitable for children. However we wouldn't recommend giving them to small infants as they contain chunky bits of peanuts and seeds.

This is a reminder that our nut butters only use natural ingredients and never use any palm oil. Because of this, you should expect to see some natural oil separation, which can be solved by simply stirring the oils back in to the nut butter. When the weather is colder, you may notice some solidification of this oil (in the form of white coconut flakes) in our Coconut Almond Butter & Limited Edition Chocolate Orange Almond Butter products. Again, this can be solved by storing the nut butter in a warm place and stirring the coconut and oils back in to the nut butter.

Nut butter is a spread made from nuts that are gently roasted and blitzed up until they become smooth and silky - perfect for spreading on toast or spooning straight from the jar. Peanut butter is the most well-known type of nut butter, but now you can find nut butters made from all sorts of different nuts. Here at Pip & Nut we make both peanut and almond butters. The plain flavours (smooth or crunchy) are made from only nuts and a pinch of sea salt to bring out the flavour. We also add other natural ingredients to our peanut and almond butters to create our (very tasty) blended flavours, such as Sweet & Salty or Coconut Almond.

And when it comes to how to eat it, where do we begin?! We love everything from spooning it straight out of the jar to swirling it on top of porridge or into a stir fry. Our jars, tubs and chocolate cup products are entirely gluten free! However our Stuffed Oat Bars are not.

Yes! Almost all of our products are vegan friendly so you can enjoy our full range of vegan friendly nut butters and some of our nut butter cups. The only product not suitable for vegans is:
Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Hi-oleic peanuts are a special variety of peanuts that are only grown in a few places around the world; we source ours from Argentina. We use these peanuts not only because they are naturally sweeter and more delicious than standard peanuts, but they actually also contain higher levels of mono-unsaturated fats (the ‘good’ kind of fat, which helps support normal cholesterol levels). In fact, hi-oleic peanuts contain around 30% more monounsaturated fats than regular peanuts, which puts them up there with other heart-healthy foods like avocados and olive oil.

We're really proud to source our cocoa through Tony's Open Chain. To sum it up that means our cocoa is 100% traceable beans, no deforestation & an organisation actively working to eradicate forced labour in the cocoa industry. They currently source from cooperatives & farms in Côte d'Ivoire & Ghana. Read all about our Tony's Open Chain partnership here.

Soya lecithin is used in our Nut Butter Cups. Soya lecithin is a natural stabiliser derived from the soya bean. It is often found in chocolate and is used to make the chocolate lovely and smooth. We trialled lots of different recipes for our nut butter cups and found that this one was by far the best. Our soya lecithin is non GMO (which is the same for all our ingredients for that matter).

It’s simple: the cost. We really want to make products that are as accessible as possible, and organic nuts would make our nut butters (and cups) much more expensive. Instead we focus on sourcing the highest quality nuts from select suppliers in Argentina and California, and ethical single-origin chocolate from Colombia.

Yes. We don’t use any GMO ingredients in our products.

Nut Butters:
Our Almond Butters are made in the UK and our Peanut Butters are made in The Netherlands.

Nut Butter Cups:
We make our nut butter cups in an artisanal factory in the English countryside. They are true chocolate experts and as obsessed as us about making exceptionally tasty products.

Our HQ (The Nest) is in London.

Nut Butters: once opened, we recommend consuming our nut butters within 3 months (easy!)

Nut Butter Cups: once a pack is opened, we recommend eating our nut butter cups within 3 days (we'll be highly impressed if they last longer than 3 minutes though!)

We recommend storing both in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

We love experimenting with new flavours, which is why we make our limited edition nut butters. Old flavours include: Chocolate Coconut Hazelnut Butter, Chocolate Orange Almond Butter, Cherry Bakewell Almond and Pumpkin Spice Almond Butter. Generally our limited edition flavours are around for about 9 months, before they are replaced with the next one. We don't plan to bring them back, but never say never! We love hearing which ones you like the best so do let us know and we'll keep this in mind when developing our new flavours.

We used to make cashew butter but we discontinued this in 2017 to make way for other new products. We're always experimenting with new ingredients and flavours so keep an eye on our limited editions if you like something a bit different.

Dogs love peanut butter! In fact we get tagged in loads of photos of lucky pooches finishing off the jar. Our peanut butter is made only from peanuts and a small amount of sea salt, so it is safe for dogs to eat. Dogs should not eat peanut butter that contains xylitol (ours never do) or chocolate - so no nut butter cups for them!

Well the fundamental difference is the nuts! Peanut butter is made from peanuts and almond butter from (yep, you guessed it) almonds. In our opinion both are equally delicious and here at The Nest we always have jars of every flavour open. Plain almond butter is a bit more savoury than plain peanut butter (because our peanuts are naturally sweeter, not because we add any sugar). From a nutritional perspective, there is a common perception that almond butter is the healthier choice as it is higher in mono-unsaturated fats, however as we use hi-oleic peanuts both our almond and peanut butters are a great source of mono-unsaturated fats. Both peanut and almond butters are also naturally high in fibre and a source of protein.

Unfortunately, we have discontinued our squeeze packs to make way for new delicious products. So the squeeze packs are no longer for sale.

All our nuts are tested for aflatoxins before being delivered to our factories. They must meet strict UK & EU legal limits before being approved for use in our nut butters.

We don't have a specific policy on pesticides however all our nut butters conform to current EEC directive. In addition, each of the farms we work with are audited for both ethical and environmental standards.

We use a very small amount of UK grown rapeseed oil in our bars to keep the oats deliciously soft and to ensure they keep their shape as bars.

Sugar is naturally occurring in peanuts, oats and fruit.

We also add some date syrup and rice syrup to our bars to help with the texture.

Soya protein isolate is a powder form of soya protein, which comes from the soya bean. It’s made in a similar way to cocoa powder from cacao beans. It’s subtle in flavour, plant-based & contains all 9 essential amino acids our body can’t produce on its own. We’ve used it to add more plant-based protein to our bars, without compromising the delicious taste. 

Meanwhile, the crispies are that same powder mixed with tapioca starch & some salt for flavour. These are made in the same way as rice crispies! We’ve used this crispy form to add some all-important texture which (along with everything else) makes our bars stand out among the rest.

Every element of our bars has been tested, tasted, trialled & tasted again until perfect. As you can probably tell, we don’t mess around when it comes to quality ingredients.

Almond Butters: Contains almond. Not suitable for tree nut allergy sufferers. Our Almond Butters are produced in a peanut-free factory. This means that the risk of cross-contamination for peanut allergen is very low.

Peanut Butters: Contains peanut. Not suitable for tree nut allergy sufferers.

Milk Chocolate Nut Butter Cups: Contains peanut, milk and soya. Not suitable for peanut and tree nut allergy sufferers.

Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups: Contains almond. Not suitable for peanut, milk, soya and tree nut allergy sufferers.

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups: Contains peanut. Not suitable for milk, soya and tree nut allergy sufferers.

Stuffed Oat Bars: Contains peanut and oats (gluten). Not suitable for tree nut allergy sufferers.

Protein Bars: Please be aware that all of our protein bars contain peanuts, soya & oats (gluten). Our Caramel Almond Bar contains all of these, as well as almonds. All three of our protein bars are unsuitable for soya, gluten, tree nut, peanut & milk allergy sufferers.

No! There is absolutely no palm oil in ournut butters or nut butter cups.

Palm oil is traditionally added to peanut butter and other nut butter products to act as an emulsifier and thicken the consistency. We don't think nut butters need any added oils (nuts naturally have a high oil content), so we prefer to leave it out. This does mean sometimes our nut butters need a good stir, but we'll take that.

Unsustainable palm oil production has been responsible for huge amounts of deforestation in recent years which has had severe consequences on both the environment and local communities.

As well as being damaging to the environment, it is also high in saturated fat, which we should avoid consuming too much of. This is why you'll never find palm oil in any Pip & Nut product.

Most of our products are dairy free. Despite the name, our peanut butters and almond butters do not contain any actual dairy. In fact, our nut butter range is entirely dairy free.

However our nut butter cups are not entirely dairy free:
Milk Chocolate Peanut Butt Cups - contains milk (not dairy free)
Dark Chocolate Almond Butter and Peanut Butter Cups - may contain milk (not recommended for dairy allergy sufferers)

Yes! All of our products are suitable for vegetarians so you can enjoy our full range of nut butters, stuffed oat bars and nut butter cups.

Short answer: it’s a combination of nuts & soya. 

More detailed answer: as you probably read, the number one ingredient in our protein bars, naturally, is nuts. That means a good amount of the protein in them is from nuts. To make sure our protein bars live up to their name (& our Pip & Nut standards) we’ve used soya to add texture (via the crispies) & even more plant-based protein. A fun fact about soya protein is that it’s one of the only ‘complete’ plant-based proteins that’s been derived from a natural source. ‘Complete’ means it contains all 9 essential amino acids that our body can’t make on its own. The more you know.

Jars:
Our glass jars are fully recyclable (including the label which is made of paper). Please check that your local authority collects glass, and make sure you rinse your empty jars, before putting them in your recycling bin when you are finished with them. You can recycle the jars with the lid on.

1kg Tubs:
Our tubs are fully recyclable. Please check with your local authority to confirm what plastic they collect, and make sure you rinse your empty tubs before putting them in the recycling bin so they are as clean as possible.

Nut Butter Cups:
At the moment our nut butter cup packaging is not recyclable. The outer boxes that the cups come in are 100% recyclable cardboard. We use a metallic foil because this reduces the amount of oxygen that can get through the pack and help keeps our products fresh for as long as possible; this is especially important when it comes to chocolate. However, we are keeping track of new materials as the come to market and hope that there will be a recyclable solution as soon as possible. The tray also has a thin layer of plastic on it for protection.

No, all of our packaging is BPA free.

Our standard UK delivery is 3-4 working days, with a Friday working day cut off at 12pm. When you place your order you should receive a link which will let you track your order progress in the warehouse and through secured mail until it reaches the Royal Mail/Hived/ DPD/Yodel depot.

If you have a promo code (lucky you!) you’ll be able to enter it at the checkout.

Unfortunately you cannot amend your order once it has been placed. If you give us an email as soon as you can, we may be able to manually change it, if it has not yet been dispatched.

We really hope you love your order, but if for some reason you change your mind and want to send something back we will accept returns for up to 30 days. Please email thekernel@pipandnut.com to find out the best way to return your items.
